How Does SSARIS Select
The Hedge Funds To Be Part Of The Multi-Management Strategy?
SSARIS selects
hedge funds from commercially available databases including: Hedge Fund Research,
TASS, Barclay, Stark, CSFB / Tremont, Hedgeworld. There are approximately
5000 programs listed in this universe.
Also, since
1997, SSARIS has collected data from managers who are not currently published
in commercial databases. This information is proprietary to SSARIS and includes
over 100 hedge fund strategies,
More importantly,
over the years SSARIS has built many contacts from which they benefit. SSARIS
approaches manager selection from both a manager specific perspective as
well as a total portfolio perspective. SSARIS chooses managers who have a
proven track record of delivering efficient returns (returns/risk) to investors.
They also search for managers who demonstrate their ability to repeat the
process which generated past performance, in the future.
SSARIS also
attempts to ensure that the investment process of the selected manager has
integrity and conducts an extensive interview concerning all facets of the
asset management business.
Finally, SSARIS
is uniquely positioned to evaluate managers with concern over such issues
since its multi-strategy hedge fund commenced in September of 1986 and has
enjoyed continuous, competitive performance over this period. SSARIS has
experience as both a hedge fund manager and a fund of fund manager and therefore
can conduct a more careful, educated evaluation of the qualitative aspects
of a hedge fund manager.
